Argentine Carlos Tevez has turned out not to be the highest paid footballer in the world as widely reported.
No doubt he earns the mouth and eye watering salary but his international teammate Ezekiel Lavezzi trumps him in pay-out.
The striker started from his home country before he moved to England. After his sojourn at West Ham, Manchester United and Manchester City, he moved to the Serie A where he continued his illustrious career with Juventus.
He returned home in 2015 but after two and a half seasons at home, he could no longer say no to the huge salary he Chinese were flaunting. He agreed to the move to the Far East and the move was celebrated all over the world as he was set to earn the highest salary offered to a footballer on the planet.
Tevez signed with Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua and has been playing. However, the latest report from Football Leaks shows that Lavezzi receives way more than the Argentine.
While Tevez is earning a whopping £634,615 per week, Lavezzi receives £798,000 per week playing for Hebei China Fortune.
Tevez earns £32.99 million in annual wages while Lavezzi’s amounts to £41.49 million per year. Cristiano Ronaldo comes a distant third with £22.08 million per year. Brazilian star Oscar who left Chelsea to move to China receives £400,000 per week that amounts to £20.8 million. Lionel Messi comes fifth as Barcelona offers him £362, 480 per week, amounting to £18.85 million. Gareth Bale, Hulk, Paul Pogba, Neymar and Luis Suarez also rank high on the highest earners list.
The 32-year old Lavezzi has been fighting a spate of injuries that has limited his contributions to the team. For last season and this term, he has only scored two goals after playing 16 games. Ridiculous!
