Martino wants Funes Mori

The national team coach of the Argentine squad wants Everton star, Ramiro Funes Mori to play for La Albiceleste in the upcoming tournaments. Coach Gerardo Martino says he wants the player for play during the Summer Olympics starting on August 3, ten days before the official kick-off of the English Premier League.

Football clubs are not obliged to allow their players go for the Olympics games tournament as the games are not in the FIFA calendar.

The coach said: “Let’s hope we can have him for both competitions. We have already spoken with Roberto Martinez and it’s a possibility.”

The centre back in question has 24 English Premier League games to his belt with three goals this season. Funes Mori is beginning to establish himself in the squad as the first choice defender in centre-back for his club and country.

The Argentine who is only 25 years old, moved to the English team from River Plate this season. The talented player grew through the ranks at River Plate Football Club as he played for the junior team before eventually breaking into the first team in 2011/2012 season.

Ramiro Funes Mori has been impressive for the South American giant since making his debut on the 28th of match last year. The player, who is comfortable in centre back and left back position, signed a deal that will keep him with The Toffees till 2019.

He missed six Copa America games against Paraguay, Uruguay, Jamaica, Columbia, Paraguay and Chile mid July last year and also missed the 2-0 triumph over Bolivia in the World Cup qualification match of group A.
