Juventus face the toughest challenge in the defence of their stranglehold on the Italian Serie A when they take on a rejuvenated AC Milan team at the San Siro during the weekend. Milan were expected to struggle in the league this season after losing a number of key players like Mario Balotelli in the summer. They have brought in players like Fernando Torres and Marco van Ginkel, but these are not players at the top of their game right now. They are coming to Milan only because of their struggles at the previous clubs.
However, Milan also had another managerial change after bringing in the former striker Filippo Inzaghi to lead the team. Regarded as one of the greatest strikers in Milan’s history, Inzaghi was expected to struggle due to his lack of experience, but he has been a breath of fresh air. Milan have been playing some of the best football in the Italian league this season. They have been attacking with purpose and they have also managed to prevent conceding goals. They come into the match after a 5-4 thriller against Parma in which they came in the right side. Tevez, who continues to be the main man at Juventus, says that Massimiliano Allegri’s men need not be warned enough about the threat from Milan.
This match will also see Allegri returning to face his former club, who sacked him 12 months ago. “In Milan, I see a real team who have a compact design. They are all rowing in the same direction. I disagree that the Scudetto will be a two-horse race between Juve and Roma. Again, Milan are equipped to do very well and history compels them to aim for the Scudetto,” said Tevez. Roma have also made a great start to the season and they will be watching this match in the hope of both teams dropping points.
